Röhsska Museum is dedicated to design, fashion, and the applied arts. The museum was founded in the early 1900s and has been attracting visitors interested in contemporary design, craft and creative expression ever since. Design is everywhere and it affects our lives in many ways. This is something that you will be aware of visiting the Röhsska Museum.

The Röhsska Museum is the only museum in Sweden specialized in design and craft since 1916. Here you will find historic and contemporary design and craft presented in the exhibitions. The objects in the museum tell stories about creativity, expression, styles, fashion and artistic ideals during different eras in different parts of the world.

The vast collection includes over 50,000 objects from haute couture garments, to fine pieces of furniture, silverware, costume, prints, and drawings. Here 18th-century design, and 20th and 21st-century fashion is included, as well as artifacts from as far as Asia to its native Sweden and other parts of Europe. In early 2019 a new permanent exhibition will be inaugurated that tells the story of the meeting between North and East Asia. Here the oldest part of the museum collection meets contemporary design and craft and demonstrates how this meeting is of great importance still today.

Design is everywhere and something that affects all of us. The exhibitions and program at Röhsska museum give insights about the notion of Design and how it influences our lives and material culture. During 2019 five unique exhibitions will be on display, where topics such as Democratic Design and the waste of plastics in the oceans will be discussed as well as how architecture- and design strategies can support and provide evidence in human rights cases with the exhibition Forensic Architecture. Also, the recipients of Torsten and Wanja Söderbergs pris will present their work in a separate exhibition.

Make a visit and immerse yourself in the world of design and craft! Also, make sure not to miss out on the café and gift shop in the museum.
