Explore history and art with a visit to Strandverket Art Museum, housed in a historic 19th century fortification.

Uniquely located within an old fortification built in the mid-1800s, Södra Strandverket, the Strandverket Art Museum showcases a range of international contemporary art, from photography and sculptures to paintings, digital art and more. Originally built to protect the island of Marstrand from the Danish, the historic fort building is an attraction in itself!

Strandverket Art Museum is home to a permanent collection in its sculpture park in the courtyard within the fort, featuring pieces by Sean Henry, Bernar Venet, Pål Svensson, Eva Hild and Maria Miesenberger. Throughout the year, the museum plays host to three exhibition periods in the Spring, late Summer/early Autumn and Winter.

Explore this one-of-a-kind attraction where old meets new and different art genres merge.

Please note: Due to seasonality the Strandverket Art Museum will only be open until 30th of September. Re-opens in April 2019.
